3DD Entertainment has further solidified its relationship with Australian producer World Wide Entertainment by bringing two more celebrity-based series to Mipcom.
Having already commissioned the stellar series Superstars from World Wide Entertainment, which launched at MIP TV earlier this year, 3DD has now finalised further deals on two new 26 x 30 minute series. The first, Beyond Stardom reveals the off screen enterprises of the biggest names in film, music, and fashion, seeing through the fixed smiles and celluloid charades to reveal the person inside the celebrity, whilst The Pain Behind the Fame is a fascinating and humorous series that reveals the private heartaches haunting a host of celebrities, from Sarah Jessica Parker and Bill Clinton, to Kurt Cobain, Britney Spears and Robert Downey Jr.
3DD retains worldwide TV rights for all three of these World Wide Entertainment series, which have also been repackaged into ‘shortcut’s, 2.5’ in length and are available for TV, mobile and online rights.
3DD has also signed a deal with E2 Films acquiring world, all rights (excluding UK/North American DVD) to a ground-breaking investigative documentary surrounding the assassination of Bobby Kennedy entitled R.F.K Must Die (1 x 60’, 2 x 60’, 137’ feature). Produced and directed by Shane O’Sullivan, it features newly discovered film and photographs suggesting the CIA selected a ‘Manchurian Candidate’ and hypnotically programmed him to carry out the murder. This documentary is aptly timed in the run up to the 40th anniversary of Kennedy’s death in June 2008.
Just a selection of some of the titles to be revealed at the market include a number of star-driven documentaries such as: Brando produced by TCM (3 x 60’ & 165’) which celebrates the life and career of the most influential actor of the 20th Century and includes original interview footage with a number of Hollywood heavyweights, Meat Loaf – In Search of Paradise an ‘intimate’ film about the multi-platinum selling rock icon, actor and performer, and Respect Yourself – The Stax Records Story (120’ feature & 60’) narrated by Samuel Jackson, which marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary Stax record label, established by a white brother and sister in a black Memphis neighbourhood. The doc features an impressive line-up of soul legends.
Anthony Kimble, Director of Sales, 3DD: “We are confident that these acquisitions to mention just a few, will go down a storm with international buyers at the market. We are offering a genuine mix of pure entertainment and thought-provoking programming, something to appeal to all tastes and the above highlights are only the tip of the iceberg!”
