4 and E4 have re-commissioned 3DD to produce a second series of music show The Album Chart Show. The series has been commissioned for another 20- week run, due to start in Autumn 06 running through to Spring 07.
The series will continue its format of each 30 minute show featuring a number of live performances from major acts performing songs from their latest albums, in addition to artist interviews and the Top 20 UK Album Chart run down. The first series of The Album Chart Show, which is currently on air until mid-July, has already included exclusive performances from an eclectic mix of the well known alongside the up-and-coming artists including Franz Ferdinand, Pink, Razorlight, Nelly Furtado, The Zutons and Dirty Pretty Things.
The second series will debut in a Friday evening slot on C4, prior to going out E4 on Saturday afternoons and having a second C4 airing over the weekend.
To coincide with this announcement, 3DD will also be counting down to the start of the second series on www.thealbumchartshow.com by showcasing previously unseen tracks and highlights from the first series.
Neil McCallum, C4’s Commissioning Editor for Music said:
'It's great that at a time when so many other music shows are being axed or in decline, that Channel 4 is continuing with it's commitment to music and re-commissioning a second series of The Album Chart Show. We've been delighted with the level of talent that have chosen to showcase their latest releases in front of a live audience each week at KOKO. This series we've seen established artists such as Morrissey, Primal Scream, and The Streets come onboard and showcase exclusive album tracks, as well as newer acts such as The Automatic, The Feeling and Archie Bronson Outfit perform songs from their debut albums. The Album Chart Show has been a huge success and we look forward to further developing it over its next 20 week run."
Andrew Higgie, Managing Director at 3DD said:
‘The idea behind The Album Chart Show was to reflect the current appetite for quality, diverse, live music across the UK and beyond, driven very much by the digital revolution. It’s wonderful that Channel 4 has embraced the concept for a second series and 3DD looks forward to delivering more of the world’s best music.’
The Album Chart Show was commissioned for Channel 4 and E4 by Neil McCallum, Commissioning Editor, T4 & Music. The series will be produced by 3DD. The Executive Producers are Andrew Higgie and Dominic Saville.
